The company began in 1991 as Amplasco a manufacturer of recycling machinery for the plastic industry, manufacturing revolutionary systems now in use around the world. Later in the 1990s the firm's focus changed towards providing plastic, metal, glass, and paper recycling equipment in an effort to offer clients more diverse recycling alternatives.

 The Plastic industry changed dramatically in the last decade with the success incorporation of cellulostic fibers, derived from waste cardboard, sawdust and other organic materials into composite materials.  New awareness and greater understanding of cellulostics, have made it possible for Total Recycling Systems to draw upon its expertise in manufacturing and engineering, and to begin developing revolutionary solutions to one of the most threatening environmental concerns – the increasing household waste stream and landfill proliferation.
